England skipper Kevin Pietersen vented his frustration after his team lost the Kanpur ODI against India by D/L method.
India needed to be 183 for five at the end of 40 overs but were ahead of the target at 195 for eight when bad light stopped play at the Green Park.
“It was frustrating. It would have been nice to have got a full game but that was not to be.”
But the dynamic middle-order batsman, who has had a medioctre series with the bat so far sounded positive about the way his side improved in Kanpur.
“Our game is getting better. We are getting there, closer to the next level. We had a good chance of winning the match had our batsmen capitalised on their starts.”
Pietersen rued the fact that his batsmen did not make their starts count and score hundreds. Ian Bell scored 46 while Ravi Bopara made a solid 60 before being dismissed at crucial stages.
“Yuvraj (Singh) has got two hunderds so far while we haven’t got a single one yet. That is the diffrence. We need to get hundreds if we are to challenge India in India.”
“The boys fought hard today. We had a real go at it but at the umpire did their job and made the decision. We accept that.”
Pietersen has his task cut out and would want to go to Bangalore with a more concrete attitude to knock India off on Sunday in a day-nighter.
